The police authorities have finally unmasked the identity of the Army Captain who masterminded the shooting of three police officers and two civilians by some officers of the Nigeria Army on August 6 at Ibi in Taraba state.
The source close to the investigating panel gave the identity of the soldier as Captain Tijani Balarabe.
Captain Balarabe was alleged to have ordered the shooting of the policemen who were on undercover assignment from the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team.
The killings took place as the slain policemen had successfully arrested a kidnap kingpin, Alhaji Hamisu Bala popularly known as Wadume.
It was reported that the soldier, after attacking the police, rescued Wadume, cut the cuffs on his hands and legs and set him free.
Unfortunately for the suspect, he has been rearrested by the police at his hideout in Kano on Tuesday, August 20, by the police.
